Weiss Vintage Collectible Rhinestone and Quality Stone Costume Jewelry

Albert Weiss started the Weiss Jewelry company in New York and sold jewelry from about 1942 to 1971. Mr. Weiss used excellent quality Austrian diamente or clear and colored art glass and aurora borealis rhinestones of exceptional quality and clarity, faux pearls, clear and glass colored stones with antique and gold-tone, silver-tone and Japanned metal settings. The high quality of these stones, has made them very collectible since they look as good today as the day they were fashioned. The Weiss Jewelry company prospered during the 1950s and 1960s. Weiss introduced the German smoky quartz crystals that they called "black diamond jewelry". Christmas tree pins were made for Weiss in Germany that bore the Weiss logo. The Weiss company ceased operations in 1971. The most sought after pieces by collectors for the very high quality and clarity of their costume jewelry, are the Weiss butterfly and insect pins of the 1950s, Weiss jewelry has become a highly rated collectible costume jewelry and is increasing in price.  Most Weiss jewelry is marked with "Weiss" in either block letters or script, but they also used "Albert Weiss" and "AW Co." with the "W" in the shape of a crown which was often found on tags and used after 1950.
